Schindler & Stewart Family Dentistry is a respected dental care facility that has provided dental treatment for families in the Bismarck, ND area for more than 35 years. Our desire is for your experience to be the best that we can offer. We provide dental care for patients of all ages. Our courteous, professional staff makes you feel welcome from the moment you call to the time you complete your appointment.
Dr. Stewart, Dr. York, and Dr. Deisz all utlilize both traditional and high-tech equipment, employing methods to best fit your needs through a variety of dental services. These include white composite (tooth-colored) restorations, dental implants, and teeth whitening. From our state-of-the-art sterilization and newly designed workstations, to the eye-catching display of North Dakota artwork, you can enjoy high-quality dental care in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.
Schindler & Stewart Family Dentistry uses digital x-rays, thus reducing the radioactive exposure by up to 90%. Digital x-rays also provide enhanced diagnostics for the dentists, which mean superior treatment for the patient. For your convenience, our reception area has a kids’ playroom with many activities to keep children busy.

Our History
Dr. Schindler and his wife, Lynn, opened Schindler Family Dentistry in August of 1979 on the corner of 3rd & Boulevard. Many of the people that came into the practice during those first 10 years, remain loyal patients today.
The practice then moved to Northbrook Mall for the next 15 years. In 2004, due to growth and the need to expand to add another doctor, Schindler Family Dentistry moved to its present location at 210 W Century Avenue. In June of 2007, Dr. Katie Stewart joined the practice, and in January of 2010 she became a partner, and Schindler Family Dentistry became Schindler & Stewart Family Dentistry.
Dr. Steven Deisz joined Schindler & Stewart Family Dentistry in September of 2014 and became a partner of the practice April of 2019. He has been a great asset to this quickly growing dental practice.
Meet the Dentists
Katie Stewart, D.D.S.
Dr. Katie Stewart has always called Bismarck, ND home. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1999 and continued on to the University of North Dakota. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in 2003 and was accepted into the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
In 2007, Dr. Stewart graduated with a D.D.S and was delighted to move back to Bismarck and join Dr. Robert Schindler. Dr. Stewart is extremely passionate about dentistry and the patients she serves. In 2013 she was honored with the “New Dentist of the Year” award by the NDDA, and in 2015 was named one of the Bismarck Tribune’s “40 under 40” professionals.
In her free time, Dr. Stewart enjoys spending time with her wonderfully supportive husband, Nathan, and her three beautiful, but spunky daughters, Braelyn, Jaedyn and Ashtyn.
Steven Deisz, D.M.D.
Dr. Steve was born and raised in Bismarck and graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School in 2005. He attended the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND and received a B.S. in Biology in May of 2008. He then attended the Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Glendale, AZ and received his D.M.D. in May of 2014.
Dr. Steve enjoys the variety that general dentistry provides. He is eager to learn and constantly looking for CE courses to continue to grow his dental knowledge, having already completed a 300 hour course on dental implants before graduating dental school.
Dr. Steve is very excited to be back in his hometown where he enjoys the year-round outdoor activities North Dakota has to offer. He enjoys exercising, playing music, and spending time with his wife, Jill, and their two children, Benjamin and Madison. They enjoy traveling to visit friends & family, or staying home with their dog, Kirby and cats, Joey & Stella.
Jordan York, D.D.S.
Dr. York was born and raised in Bismarck. He attended the University of Mary, graduating in 2011 summa cum laude majoring in Biology. He earned his dental degree in 2015 from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.
After graduating from dental school he was eager to get back to North Dakota and all it has to offer. He grew up spending many hours on his family farm near Fessenden, ND and missed it. It was there that he learned what hard work was and also developed his love for the outdoors. In his spare time he enjoys hanging out with family and friends, hunting and fishing with his dog Jax, and golfing.
His philosophy when it comes to dentistry is, “I’m here to educate you and come up with a plan that makes you happy!” He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and working on patients of all ages. One of his passions is CAD/CAM dentistry. He feels that having the ability to scan the teeth then design and deliver a permanent crown in one appointment is amazing. He believes the future of dentistry is exciting and is committed to staying on top of the latest trends and technology to ensure that you have the best experience possible.
